NASCOP is an AIDS Control Unit, ACU under the Ministry of Health and is mainly involved with technical co-ordination of HIV/AIDS programmes in Kenya. The National AIDS and STIs Control Programme NASCOP runs many programmes and is the most active unit involved in the implementation of the National HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan.
The Kenya National AIDS Strategic Plan 2005-2010 provides an action framework for HIV/AIDS within which all HIV/AIDS interventions in Kenya take place. The KNASP is not intended to replace or neither duplicate sectoral HIV/AIDS strategies, nor does it include detailed operational or implementation plans, or detailed budgets, for specific interventions. Rather, the KNASP provides the framework and context within which such strategies; plans and budgets should be formulated, monitored and coordinated.
